Additional thoughts not in the video:
They need to pull the camera back some. Of the 7 or so mechs I played during the test, the Cataphract was the only one where you could see the upper legs consistently. With the others, you basically only saw the mech from the waist up unless the terrain slope changed the angle of the camera enough to force the camera to reposition to a higher angle. Of course, this totally screwed with your aiming as the reticle would also adjust to about face height for the mech.
In it's current form 3rd Person is nice because we finally get to view our paint jobs outside of the mech lab, but that's about it for me. What you give up (mini-map, unobstructed view, free movement of arms) is far too much to make 3rd Person more than a novelty. New players will probably find it useful in helping them get oriented to how mechs move, but, for experienced players, it doesn't hold a lot of appeal.
